KAI'S GALAXY
MEET KAI
Swerving around, she punched the accelerator as the fighter shot past overhead, unable to follow her manoeuvre. Immediately, a volley of bolts flew her way from the opposite direction, splattering against her upper deflector shields and shaking the entire ship. The Comet had taken a hard hit. She was running out of options. With a swift motion towards the control panel, she directed power to the ship’s blasters and keyed in the nav computer. Turning sharply to starboard, she fired back with all she had, finally clearing a path. She gripped the hyperdrive levers and pulled them back. As the stars started to flare into starlings, two bolts hit their mark.
Kai opened her eyes in a cold sweat. It was that dream again. No matter what movements or tactics she tried, the Comet never made it out of that fight. She looked quietly up at the ceiling, its grey cement surface pondering back at her in what could only be described as reassuring familiarity. It was the middle of the night, but that hardly mattered on Coruscant. Kai threw on a pair of pants, pulled on her boots, and grabbed her jacket. She made her way down the busy streets, taking the shuttle up towards the higher levels. Jumping off, she ventured down a narrow path until she reached a tall building, one of the few that had stayed off the radar of the rich and famous. Most buildings that offered any sort of view were reserved for senators, high-up corporates, renowned artists and the like. This building was ‘open to the public’ and didn’t require any special type of identification. She headed all the way to the roof. Still far from the heights of the city, she was high enough to stare at the stars.
